VERY ‘DISRESPECTFUL’ LIAM GRAHAM SLAMS RONNIE O’SULLIVAN DUE TO..

After 48-year-old world No. 1 Ronnie O’Sullivan withdrew from their match at short notice, teenager Liam Graham called O’Sullivan “disrespectful.” O’Sullivan withdrew from the Scottish Open on Monday owing to “medical reasons”; he was scheduled to play Graham in the first round. Graham insisted, “What he’s done is disrespectful and wrong.” It makes sense considering what he does.

Following his abrupt withdrawal from the Scottish Open, world No. 1 Ronnie O’Sullivan has come under fire. Liam Graham, O’Sullivan’s alleged first-round opponent, called O’Sullivan’s conduct “disrespectful”.
Graham advanced to the second round by default when O’Sullivan abruptly withdrew from the competition for “medical reasons”.

Graham, 19, of Scotland, stated that O’Sullivan’s forfeit was “not surprising”.

Graham told the Daily Record, “It’s not right, what he did is disrespectful.” It’s sad that so many individuals missed work to attend today’s event.

“At the end of the day I want to play the best players in the world and I was really looking forward to it. I had a lot of people coming to watch and it’s really disappointing for them.
“It’s not surprising given the things he does. I found out when I got to the venue this morning. I didn’t have much prior warning, I think he pulled out very late.
“I would have stayed at home and all the people who have travelled to watch me would have come another day as well.”
Following the disappointment, Graham has received a bye and will face Ben Mertens in the second round.
“It’s been a tough start to the season for me, I haven’t really had anywhere to practice,” Graham admitted ahead of his opening match in Edinburgh. “I need the ranking points from this event and hopefully I can have a good run.
“I haven’t really had anywhere proper to practice as a base. But I’ve only really got myself settled now at Parklands Country Club in Glasgow.”

With his sights set on the impending exhibition tournament in Macau, O’Sullivan made a suggestion during the run-up to his seventh UK Championship triumph that he might forego the Scottish Open.

“I’m excited for a vacation,” he remarked. “I believe I have to closely watch my schedule because I believe prevention is better than treatment and I don’t want to reach a difficult situation.

Thus, I believe that my plan is to try to enjoy the tournament, miss Scotland, and then travel to Macau for a major event over Christmas.

“I’m excited about that. It’s a significant event, therefore I want to be prepared for it.”

O’Sullivan has missed six events so far this season and has only featured in two events outside of China – the English Open and the UK Championship – the latter which he won.
