SAD NEWS: Luke Littler To Miss Dart Premier League Games Due To…
Luke Littler, a 16-year-old darts pro, lost the World Darts Championship final on Wednesday, but Jesse still showed support for him.
Luke Littler revealed that David Beckham and Luke Shaw had texted him before his World Darts Championship final versus Luke Humphries on Wednesday night.
The 16-year-old experienced an incredible run at Alexandra Palace over the preceding three weeks, which propelled him into fame, before falling to the world No. 1 7-4 in the championship match.
With one more dart to grab a three-set lead, Littler would have taken a 4-2 lead, but Humphries rallied for five straight wins and his maiden world title.
The Warrington-born teen’s quick ascent saw him mingle with Aaron Ramsdale and Declan Rice of the Arsenal and see Tottenham’s home victory over Bournemouth this past weekend.
Littler, a Manchester United supporter, acknowledged that he was shocked that Beckham and Shaw had contacted him before to the championship game, and that he had social media followers in the form of former player Jesse Lingard and United rookie Kobbie Mainoo.
When Mark Austin of Sky News asked him what the finest message he had gotten during the competition, he said, “David Beckham saying good luck.”
Luke Shaw sent me a message wishing me luck. Received a follow [on social media] from Jesse Lingard, a former player, and the young Kobbie Mainoo.
“After all these years of watching and following them, it’s absurd to think that they are watching me.”
Littler received an invitation from United to attend the team’s home game against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on January 14 as a guest of the club, Mail Sport reported before to the championship.
Littler was a 66-1 underdog going into the World Championship, but after defeating 2018 champion Rob Cross 6-2 in the semifinals, he was the favorite heading into Wednesday’s championship match.
