NFL Draft Declarations Made by Longhorns Star DT T’Vondre Sweat for 2024

T’Vondre Sweat, a top defensive tackle for the Texas Longhorns, has formally declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Following the Texas Longhorns’ 37-31 loss to the Washington Huskies in Monday’s College Football Playoff game in the Sugar Bowl, many believed that T’Vondre Sweat’s time in college was coming to an end.

The Outland Trophy winner hinted at his intention to enter the 2024 NFL Draft following the game but did not formally declare. Then, on Friday, it was confirmed when Sweat declared his desire to declare for the NFL Draft.

“Dear Longhorn Nation, I want to thank you all for being there for me since day 1, through the ups & downs you all believed in me,” Sweat wrote on Twitter.”I also like to thank Coach Bo for helping me grow and for being my mentor. To be able to declare for the NFL Draft in 2024 excites me!”

Sweat thought back on his stellar, award-winning season that saw him develop into one of the most formidable defensive lineman in the country after the game on Monday.

“I am incredibly grateful for the chance I had this year to excel, and as I mentioned earlier, I owe it all to my teammates because without them, I wouldn’t even be in this position,” he remarked.

During the regular season, Sweat—who was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year—registered 42 total tackles, two sacks, and five passes defended. In the Big 12 Championship game, Texas defeated Oklahoma State Cowboys 49–21, and he also caught a two-yard touchdown.

Sweat recorded 127 total tackles, five sacks, 15 passes defended, and one forced fumble during his five years at Texas. He is probably going to be among the best defensive lineman chosen in the NFL Draft of 2024.
