Following a terrifying knee injury against the Celtics, Terry Rozier is helped to the locker room.
Before getting hurt, Rozier finished the game with 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists in 24 minutes.
He is the second starting Heat player that will be absent on Sunday. Another reason Jimmy Butler wasn’t there was a death in his family.
Josh Richardson, a reserve guard, left the game in the second quarter due to an injury, severely depleting the Heat’s roster. After a collision that may have caused Richardson’s right shoulder to dislocate, Wunderman hypothesised that Richardson sustained his injuries.
In the event that Rozier and Richardson are not available, the Heat will probably rely on Tyler Herro to guide the Miami backcourt.
The Heat, who acquired the high-scoring guard on January 23 for Kyle Lowry and a protected 2027 first-round pick from the Charlotte Hornets, would suffer a huge setback if Rozier were to sustain a longer-term injury. He hasn’t yet lived up to his full potential in Miami.
Rozier has averaged just 12.6 points in nine games with the Heat since being traded from Charlotte, where he was averaging 23.2 points through 30 games. Only once since the move has he gone beyond the 20-point mark.
However, Rozier has previously stated that he will need some time to get used to his first-ever midseason move.
Rozier stated on January 27 that “I’ve never been traded in the middle of the season,” according to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. I’m currently toying with guys that I am genuinely open to since they are attracting a lot of interest. I’m not used to that at all. However, we’ll work things out.”
The Heat will be hoping for good injury news about the seasoned guard following the game since they need Rozier healthy to make that change.
Terry Rozier, a guard for the Miami Heat, will not play against the Boston Celtics on Sunday due to what appears to be a leg injury, according to Sun-Sentinel reporter Ira Winderman.
Rozier seemed to grasp at his right knee after falling hard to his court during the third quarter.
As he was assisted off the court and shown to the locker room, he was limping.
