DONE DEAL DEAL: The Denver Broncos and Penix Jr. reach an agreement.
On paper, the Denver Broncos appear to be in need of a quarterback, but it’s likely that they already have the quarterback on the roster who will start in 2024.
Jarrett Stidham is expected to start at quarterback for the Broncos when the 2024 season begins, according to mounting evidence. As per a recent report by Mike Klis of 9 News, Stidham is the team’s most probable starter at the moment, but they have plans to include a rookie player.
Furthermore, the Broncos have not been active in the free agency quarterback market, as ESPN’s Jeff Legwold noted on Sunday. Although head coach Sean Payton hopes to address the position this offseason, a trade seems unlikely.
The Broncos have very few options because they can’t compete for premium quarterback contracts because of the huge dead cap penalty from releasing Russell Wilson. Sam Darnold’s $10 million deal with the Minnesota Vikings would have consumed nearly half of the Broncos’ cap space.
