DONE DEAL: Chicago White Sox Trade Outfielder to Baltimore Orioles

An outfielder who the Chicago White Sox had placed on waivers has been claimed by the Baltimore Orioles.

With just two weeks until Opening Day, the Baltimore Orioles are welcoming back a well-known player to the team.

According to the team, the Orioles have claimed outfielder Peyton Burdick off of waivers from the Chicago White Sox.

Prior to making his MLB debut with the Miami Marlins in the 2022 MLB season, Burdick was originally selected by the team in the third round of the 2019 MLB draft.

The Orioles bought the outfielder from the Marlins just a month ago, but they were later DFA’d when Baltimore acquired relief pitcher Kaleb Ort from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for cash.

After that, he was signed by the White Sox, but he was DFA’d by Chicago after the Dylan Cease deal, therefore he did not last long in MLB Spring Training camp.

Over the course of the 2022–2023 MLB season, Burdick hit.200/.281/.333 with five home runs in 46 games.

Even though Baltimore has a tonne of depth at the position throughout their system, he will be fighting for a bench place.

Burdick still has room for improvement but has some Major League experience. For the Orioles, it may be a very low-risk, high-reward move in a setting where the front office has shown to flourish.
