According to reports, the $163 million designated rookie maximum may increase to around $200 million with All-NBA escalators.
According to the source, Tatum’s agent Jeff Wechsler and the Celtics completed the arrangements on Sunday.
According to reports, Tatum will only get the 30% maximum that would raise the contract’s worth to $195 million if he is selected to the first, second, or third team of the NBA for the upcoming season. Tatum was chosen for the third team of the 2017–18 NBA All-Star game. In the agreement, he will also earn a player option, a source informed Wojnarowski.
Tatum, who was selected third overall in the 2017 NBA draft, was named to his first All-Star squad this past season after becoming the Celtics’ face and taking the club to the Eastern Conference finals once more.
Tatum, 22, increased his 3-point attempt rate from 3.9 per game in 2018–19 to 7.1 per game this past season while playing for Boston. He also averaged career highs of 23.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.4 steals.
