Antonio Brown: Roger Goodell Should Call Back the Lions’ Loss
Should Roger Goodell reverse the Lions game’s outcome?
There is a national outcry about the quality of officiating in the National Football League following the Detroit Lions’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
Even ESPN, which has occasionally defended the appalling decisions made by those the league assigned to make crucial calls, devoted a significant amount of their postgame show to harshly denouncing the officials’ determination that Taylor Decker had touched the football unlawfully.
It is evident from the video evidence—and probably the audio that the investigators will listen to—that Detroit’s veteran left tackle complied with the regulations and declared himself eligible.
Antonio Brown, a former wide receiver for the NFL who has voiced strong opinions on a broad range of subjects online, turned to social media early on Sunday morning to discuss a rule that the league’s commissioner may implement to reverse one of the worst decisions of the season.
“NEWS: Under Rule 17 of the #NFLrulebook, commissioner Roger Goodall has the authority to OVERTURN a game result,” Brown said on social media early on Sunday morning. “Movie theatres”
According to the majority of responses to the contentious receiver, the league’s commissioner would never decide to take that action because there was still time for quarterback Dak Prescott to lead his team on a potential comeback.
“Detroit beating Dallas in Jerry’s world doesn’t fit the #NFL storyline,” a follower said. That would be too realistic. Everything is OK; Detroit is accustomed to this kind of thing occurring. But feel horrible for the Vikings at Ford Field the next week, laaawrrt! Would want to see Dallas participate in the postseason.
