According to John Harbaugh, Jadeveon Clowney’s agent, this is the first time Clowney has concluded the season with joy.
The pass-rusher’s feelings at the end of the season could be useful if the Ravens manage to retain him.
Outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney had a memorable season, no secret. He was creating plays, collecting sacks and pressures, and most importantly, having fun with the game of football.
I did love going to work, as I mentioned. This year, it really made my life easier,” Clowney remarked during the locker room clean-out. “I think the reason I performed well was because I was under no pressure.” I would just walk in, play ball, have fun, and be myself.
Clowney repeated the sentiment at the finish of the season throughout the entire run. During our chats this season, he informed me several times about the Ravens’ role in helping him get better. How they weren’t putting him under excessive mental or physical strain. How much he liked the organisation, the linebacker unit, and the locker environment. John Harbaugh, the head coach, claims that his agency also informed him of this.
During the combine, Harbaugh said to Garrett Downing of baltimoreravens.com, “I just ran into the agent for Jadeveon Clowney.” He grabbed me as I was strolling down the street, and I told him I loved him. “What do you think?” I said. This year, how did he fare? “This is the first year he’s ended the season happy,” he remarks. That alone says a great deal. It speaks volumes about everything and everyone within the company. Perhaps we can win him back. We will give it a shot.
Clowney’s career has been a difficult journey thus far. Massive hopes were abruptly dashed by a severe knee injury. Clowney, though, has persisted in playing in the NFL and has done so at a good level throughout. Additionally, he tied his career high in sacks (9.5) and set a new personal best in pressures (71) in Year 10 while playing for his sixth NFL squad.
Maybe with Clowney’s output and contentment, the Ravens can reclaim their effective pass rusher.
At the conclusion of the season, Clowney remarked, “Yeah, I would love to come back here. There was never any pressure throughout the week on anybody.”
