A second-year player may be the Pittsburgh Steelers’ best option at right tackle.

Pittsburgh With Chuks Okorafor released, the Pittsburgh Steelers may look to an unsung prospect to take his spot at right tackle. Pittsburgh may seek to another second-year player to assume right-side responsibilities with the hopes of moving Broderick Jones back to the left side in the following campaign.

Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has mentioned Spencer Anderson as a strong candidate to start at right tackle for the Steelers. In his most recent discussion, Fittipaldo stated that you can’t count out the seventh-round choice coming into training camp.

“If [Dan] Moore is unable to play on the right side, don’t disregard Jones at left tackle and Spencer Anderson at right tackle during camp. Fittipaldo adds, “They were rather pleased with what Anderson demonstrated to them at tackle during training camp last year.

The Steelers were drawn to Anderson in the NFL Draft because he had expertise at all five offensive line positions. He was classified as a guard on the team’s official depth chart after making the 53-man roster, but it’s likely that he would have been asked to play tackle if necessary.

Moore, who is in the penultimate year of his rookie deal, found it difficult to switch to the right side last summer. Anderson might be a player to keep an eye on if Jones is supposed to go to the left, which isn’t confirmed yet.

In the initial round of the 2024 NFL Draft, offensive tackles have been associated with Pittsburgh, as most mock drafts project them to pick one. If another first-round player fits their needs, they won’t stop adding them, but if Anderson emerges as their best choice, they won’t pass him over.
