Phil “The Boss” In his final World Senior Darts Championship match, Taylor was defeated 3-2 at the Circus Tavern by Manfred Bilderl of Germany, resulting in an early withdrawal.

The 16-time world champion battled with his finishing in a dismal farewell event at the legendary venue, but he hit three maximums and posted an 83.02 average. He also confirmed that 2024 will be his final year on the senior circuit.

After trailing two sets, Taylor fought back to win the next two and force a deciding set, which Bilderl won to set up a second-round match against Chris Mason.

With just eight of his thirty-three double tries during his first-round exit, 63-year-old Taylor’s legacy at Circus Tavern—where he advanced to the final in all fourteen PDC World Darts Championship finals and won eleven of them—was disappointingly ended.

‘The Power’ runs out at Circus Tavern

The 63-year-old lost the first set in straight legs after Taylor missed five doubles in the first leg, allowing Bilderl to break. In the next leg, the opponent started with four flawless darts to hold.

After breaking Bilderl early in the second set and managing to record a leg, he pinned the D16, but the rookie quickly won the following three games to take a two-set lead.

In response, Taylor broke Bilderl in the third set’s fourth leg to cut the lead in half. He then won the fourth set and appeared to be gaining momentum by taking out 86 in a two-dart sequence.
