What this transaction means: In addition to acquiring future second-round selections from the 76ers and Celtics, the Celtics also acquire Springer, a player who might be a rotation member. This season, he has played the most minutes in his three-year career, averaging 11.8 mpg for the Sixers with 4 ppg, 1.8 rpg, and 1.1 apg. Over the past month, he has been a consistent member of the team’s rotation.
Banton joins the Blazers, who are still rebuilding and going through their youthful roster. This season, he is averaging 2.3 points and 1.5 assists. He will be a part of a frontcourt rotation that also includes Jermai Grant, Kris Murray, and Matisse Thybulle.
