A SMALL PART OF THE WORLD DARTS CHAMPIONSHIP PRIZE MONEY IS DONATED TO CHARITY BY LUKE HUMPHRIES
Sponsor of the World Darts Championship, Paddy Power, has donated a million pounds to Prostate Cancer UK following the most recent tournament. Luke Humphries, the recent champion, did, however, also contribute.
With his world title, the 28-year-old Englishman took home £500,000 in prize money. Humphries plans to contribute a portion of the prize money to Prostate Cancer UK, according to a journalist for Sporting Life.
The motivation for this donation is unique. Fortunately, his father-in-law overcame his own battle with prostate cancer and made a full recovery. Because Humphries had thrown the most 180 scores at the World Darts Championship, he was also given the first-ever Ballon d’Art award following the final. Humphries made the choice to present his father-in-law with this trophy.
