Texas Longhorns TE Ja’Tavion Sanders Declares for 2024 NFL Draft
Texas’s Austin According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders of the Texas Longhorns has declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.
As he concludes his collegiate career, Sanders—a 2021 recruit from Texas—may be the best tight end in programme history. As a true freshman, he spent most of his time on special teams, but in 2022, he made a big impression and was named to the first team of the Big 12. He concluded with a career-high 682 receiving yards in 2023.
The Denton, Texas product finishes his three-year career in Austin with 99 catches for 1,295 yards and seven touchdowns.
Sanders told Texas Athletics that this season’s three 100-yard games were the longest any Longhorn tight end has ever had. In addition, he broke the records for single-season receiving yards (682 yards) and career receptions (99) among tight ends.
This past season, he played some of his best games during the most important times. Sept. 9 victory over Alabama resulted in a career-high 114 receiving yards for Sanders on five receptions. The next week, he backed that up with five receptions for 110 yards in the 38-6 victory over Baylor.
