TAKE A LOOK AT RONNIE O’ SULLIVAN CAREER IN PICTURE

Ronnie O’Sullivan, a seven-time world champion, shares photos from his early years and professional life, including the iconic embrace he shared with Judd Trump during the World Championship last year.

Even while professional snooker has long been a popular pastime for the upper class, its appeal as a spectator sport is not on par with that of other sports. Even in the realm of tabletop games, chess and table tennis are superior. Ronnie O’Sullivan is a member of the pool enclave, which has a few well-known individuals due to their skill set.

O’Sullivan has been a prominent player in the world of snooker for more than thirty years, making him one of the most accomplished players in the sport’s history. Throughout his career, he has topped the world rankings numerous times and holds the record for most world titles with seven. In addition, he has a number of additional snooker records.

The Englishman won the UK Championship 2023 on Sunday, December 3, adding a few more feathers to his crown after defeating Ding Junhui of China. With this victory, O’Sullivan surpassed all other snooker players in the tournament’s history with eight victories. At 47, he also made history as the oldest player to win the UK Championship.

The athlete’s recently released documentary has kept him in the headlines for a while. The movie, titled Ronnie O’Sullivan: The Edge of Everything, is produced by Studio 99, the former football player David Beckham. On November 23, it became available on Prime Video.

Ronnie O’Sullivan, who hailed from a difficult household, took up snooker at the age of seven. At the age of nine, he won his first club tournament, and he quickly rose to prominence as an amateur competitor. When the English player was ten years old, he also recorded his first competitive century break, which is defined as a break of 100 points or more in a single trip to the snooker table.

At the age of thirteen, O’Sullivan won the British Under-16 Championship. He achieved his first competitive maximum break (the greatest break in a single snooker frame) at the 1991 English Amateur Championship. At the age of 15 years and 98 days, he was the youngest player to accomplish this feat in the past. That same year, he also took home the Junior Pot Black title and the IBSF World Under-21 Snooker Championship.

In 1992, O’Sullivan became a professional at the age of 16. In his first 76 qualifying matches, he won 74 of them, setting a record with 38 straight wins as a professional. Additionally, he made it to the televised round of the 1993 World Snooker Championship, but in his first-ever match at the Crucible Theatre, he was defeated by Scottish ace Alan McManus.

Later that year, he claimed his first ranking title at the UK Championship. In the process, the Briton also became the youngest winner of a ranking event (seven days before his 18th birthday), and his record remains intact to date. He won the 1995 Masters event aged 19 years and 69 days, and to date, he remains the youngest Masters champion in history.
